From the Yankees Training collection of drawings and paintings 1987-89, these are unique, quality art pieces by the Artist whom the legendary Milton Glaser calls“probably the greatest living reportage artist”. George Steinbrenner called her “my artist” as she worked daily on location at Spring training under his watchful eye. This collection is done in oil & graphite on various papers, using the artist’s signature reportage style. All drawings &paintings in this collection were done on location at the Yankees Spring Training camp, Ft Lauderdale, 1987-1989. The artist was there originally on the invitation of Dave Winfield, who is an art collector himself. Matsuoka documented the Yankees Spring Training those 3 years returning each time from Tokyo where she was living at that time.
